Wooden Horse (disintegrated)
1965 | Wood
With knowledge of his trademark playfulness and simple materials, it is possible to imagine Gonzalo Fonseca’s wooden horse even without a permanent visual reference. Constructed out of wood, this small horse sculpture was made for children—made for them to play on, climb, ride and weave stories with it. Though no record exists about how or when it was taken down, other Fonseca wooden Fonseca sculptures provide ample evidence that it most likely deteriorated as it was made with untreated wood.
