Marco Rando and Lake Anne Elementary School Students

2008 – 2018  |  Mural

The original impetus for this mural, located in the underpass across from Lake Anne Elementary School, came from Kimberly Dillard, a parent who wanted to cover the graffiti in the tunnel with an appealing work of art created by students. With a grant from the Washington Post and help from local artist Marco Rando and the Greater Reston Art Center, Lake Anne students designed and painted a colorful work that reflects the diversity of the school. The tunnel is adorned with hand prints and fish colored with various country flags representing the variety of ethnicities at Lake Anne Elementary School.
