Viewer for the Age of Reason is one of the original sculptures of the Parkridge Center as part of the 1991 Outdoor Sculpture Invitational, an effort to present contemporary art in a public setting to office tenants, visitors, and the general public. Sculptor Greg Shelnutt is an American artist who has been exhibited in over 350 solo, invitational and group exhibitions, in galleries and museums throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, and Germany. As a sculptor, Shelnutt strives to convey the manifestation of ideas through the manipulation of form and thinks of his sculptures as style of storytelling. Through his works, Shelnutt aims to provoke the viewer into questioning accepted notions about culture.
